FINNISH FOR BEGINNERS, ADVANCED STUDIES IN FINNISH, SUMMER COURSES IN FINNISH

At the beginning of the course, the level of Finnish language skills is tested. The education is then targeted accordingly.

TO WHOM?
• For you who are interested in the Finnish language and culture.
• For you who do not speak Finnish but want to live in Finland.
• For you who want to review beginner’s course.
• For you who have primary and / or vocational education from your own country.
• For you who want to work in Finland or are interested in postgraduate studies in Finnish.

WHY?
In the Finnish language course, you study Finnish, oral communication and social studies. The aim is to support the integration of immigrants and strengthen the study skills. You can study Finnish for one or two years. You will improve your chances of entering Finnish working life by participating in an internship that is part of your studies

WHAT?
The Finnish 1 course starts with the basics of the Finnish language and aims at the language skill level A1.3.
The Finnish 2 course repeats previously learned basics and aims at skill level A2 or B1. The studies cover different areas of language skills, speaking and writing, and reading and listening comprehension. The training includes supervised instruction for an average of 25 hours per week. If necessary and whenever possible, we also teach B2 - C1 level students or even illiterate students.

HOW?
The learning environment is multicultural, and the aim of teaching is not only integration but also to support the student's own cultural identity and to promote tolerance and equality. Culture and society are introduced through various celebrations, theme days and visitors, which bring variety to the teaching. The studies also include an internship at a local company or educational institution. Oral skills are also practiced with native Finns. Information and communication technology is used in multiple ways.

INTENSIVE SUMMER COURSES IN FINNISH

The intensive Finnish language course is aimed at adult immigrants who want to develop their Finnish language skills and ability to communicate in different situations. The purpose of the studies is to develop vocabulary, listening comprehension, speaking and oral skills as well as reading comprehension and writing skills.
Teaching is aimed at levels A (A1.1 to A2.2) and B (B1.1 to B2.2) of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CERF Levels).
